Yesterday was an epic adventure for Zoya the traveling tortoise!

We made some awesome friends at the Airport in Boston. Zoya was too cool to watch the in flight movie,  ’saving mr. banks’, so she caught up on her beauty sleep instead.

During our layover in Dallas Zoya took a Texas style selfie.

After a much shorted flight we arrived in NM. It was a long day for humom, but Zoya took it in stride. Next stop? Finding some cactus and dandelions to nom in the sunshine!

Stanley’s big day out!

Zoya and I watched this video repeatedly and it reminded us why we want to move to CA! You are quite the look Stanley! And still up for a big snack after all that traveling. Zoya aproves.

Another Zoya Story: Zoya studies abroad

So I’ve mentioned before that Zoya and I moved to England for a while when I was attending the University of Surrey. Because of certain medical conditions, which would ultimately become the reason we did not return, I was able to bring her with me after a LOT of paperwork and a little bitty microchip.

Upon our arrival to the UK we were set to live in a single person dorm room that was well.. really really small. I found a decent container and set out to find stuff to build her the castle she deserved, even in a dorm room. I collected two cheap canvas under the bed drawers, a collapsable box, some tape and a butter knife and built her a home about as big as my bed. hah.

I obsessively cleaned the floors so I could let her wander a bit while I worked and not worry about her finding anything to nibble on. I quickly discovered just how crafty these little ones are. She managed to wander under the chair and over to the side of her new home, hoist herself up on the dust buster, and try and crawl into her house from the outside. I found her dangling her little legs out of the side having pushed a desk chair and the dust buster out of the way. Its hard not to be impressed with that!

She also tried her hand at footy, happily enjoying world cup soccer on tv and in her terrarium. She met lots of people who had torties in their gardens and got to eat some dandelions. Fun times for a traveling tortoise.

So Zoya and I are back in Massachusetts after a very long journey home. We got bumped from our flight and it took us 15 hours to get back home. Still, as you can see above, Zoya and Mommy had some nice snuggle time during our layover and Zoya clearly was more interested in Albuquerque than she was in Dallas… I’m thinking she could smell the cacti from the airport.

Zoya made quite a splash as we traveled from Boston to Dallas/Ft Worth then to Santa Fe, NM today. Here she is getting a taste of the Dallas/Ft Worth Airport during our layover. She wasn’t too sure about the airport scene. Think she was hoping for a random cactus or two to munch on.

Fun fact? This is the 4th state she’s visited in the US not to mention her travels in the UK. She gets around!

Special shout out to all the American Airlines agents and my fellow passengers on the flight from Dallas to Santa Fe! Zoya felt like quite the star with all the attention she got. Hollywood is on the horizon, look out animatronic tortoises in those cable commercials 😉
