Meet Leonardo and Simon, two rescue animals that have become the best of friends, much to the surprise of the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT).

Back in 2013, Leonardo the African Spur Tortoise was saved from homeless when the Bangkok zoo (his home) was set to close. They brought him to their sanctuary where he has lived ever since.

Fast forward to last February 2016, The WFFT was alerted to a young cow with trapped, his leg tangled in a vine. While they were able to free him, he lost a part of his hind leg in the process. Simon Cow-ell, as the staff named him, was placed in one of their fields so he’d have time to heal before letting the other rescued cows that lived there. That field happened to be occupied by one Leonardo the tortoise.

The moment Leonardo and Simon met, a friendship was formed. According to the WFFT they spend much of their time together, following each other around, sharing meals, and even napping together.

“To the surprise of us all Simon the cow has formed a strong bond with the large tortoise, Leonardo. They are often seen following each other around, sharing meals and resting together. We hope this unusual friendship continues to flourish.” – WFFT
