A Brief Introduction To The Blog

First of all, welcome!

This blog is about Sheldon, the Eastern Hermann tortoise (testudo hermanni boettgeri).

Sheldon (a.k.a Shelly), is a ten year old female Hermann.

There she is!

But, why the blog?

Well, I’ve had Shelly since she was very young, and I was the grand old age of 8. Unfortunately, I and my parents were painfully misinformed about how to care for her when we got her- and it took me until 2015 to find this out!

Since then, I’ve been doing a lot of research to try and improve Shelly’s care, but the road has been slow. Finding correct, species specific information can be difficult, and so can acting on it.

The big theme on this blog will be building Shelly’s new enclosure- for the first time, she will have one that isn’t just adequate, but hopefully outstanding, and which she can live a happy, healthy life in. I will be sharing plans and documenting our progress, as well as using the blog to connect with other reptile keepers.

Fell free to follow and keep an eye on
