Holy crap! you guys!! Look at these incredible baby Egyptian tortoises just unveiled at the Woodland park Zoo in Seattle! They are barely bigger than a thumb nail! Gorgeous! anyone want to buy me a ticket to Seattle so I can report on these little ones live? you know you want to…
OUCH! A large African tortoise, named Freddie, nearly died after he dined on a salad of wood screws, staples, shards of glass, stones and a hunk of calk. Those crazy tortoises. But a Glendale animal hospital, The Animal Emergency Center (which calls itself “one of the nation’s first 24-hour emergency and critical care veterinary hospitals”), surgically removed the foreign objects from Freddie’s belly and even gave him a blood transfusion to keep him alive.
Freddie will be featured on a new show on the National Geographic Channel focused on, believe it or not, unusual items gobbled down by pets.

Just TRY and tell me you don’t want to snuggle that Komodo Dragon. I think it has a career as a pick pocket.
Video is a follow up to the article on animals and playtime. This is footage collected by Dr. Burghard and fellow researchers looking at Reptiles, Fish, Invertebrates and Play behavior.
yeah, watch it buster!
Thad is quite a cutie! I love this photo. Jealous kitty in the background makes it art!
I’m with railtracer, lets not relegate tortoises to ‘other’ pet status. They are just as full of pet ennui as our cats and dogs.
just because i have a cat doesn’t mean that i forgot about my #1 baby
Thad is disgruntled about being held
p.s. i just noticed that pangur’s creepin on my bed. she jealous.
@chairmanMeow Too long for me RT: @zoyapants did you see that social network movie?
The importance of family dinners.
Zoya learns to share early.
He (the tortoise) takes up a little space. But he’s a character, you know?” he laughs. “He loves to hang with you. They don’t do much, but they love to come over if you’re sitting in the yard and sit next to you. He’s got a little social side of him.
Clint Eastwood clearly one ups Leonardo DiCaprio as most famous tort owner. Its good to hear his tort has a suitable home and a quality personality. Never let anyone tell you these animals are boring.
