This Gopher tortoise didn’t bother to give me the side eye when it popped out its burrow for a quick bask in the sun. like any tortoise with its priorities straight, it was more focused on warming up and making its way to a tasty afternoon snack. 

I encountered this shell friend while visiting family in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. I was walking along the boardwalk created to provide residents access over the dunes without disturbing the burrows of these amazing. but threatened tortoises and the other creatures that reside with it.
