What’s the difference between a turtle and a tortoise?
So Zoya and I became quite the popular sight on the streets of our neighborhood. Walking Zoya on a leash tended to bring out every mother, father, nanny, and their children (or cell phone so the aforementioned peeps could take video to show their children). I very much enjoy teaching the neighborhood kids about tortoises and turtles. My proudest moment was when one of the little boys that live next door was waiting for his mom to drive him to school and asked me if he could pet zoya. He is very fond of her. His mom came out of the house and said “come on! Say goodbye to the turtle” indicating it was time to go. The little boy turned to her and said “Its a TORTOISE mom. Not a turtle.” I was very proud.
So seeing as I like to spread that sorta knowledge, I thought I’d share this recent article on the difference between a turtle and tortoise. There are pictures so you may as well click the link.
